Dear Students,
PTE A Reading module is comprised of 5 types of questions. Although having proper logic and strategies are imperative, time management is the most important and crucial factor in order to score high:
- Multiple Choice Single Answer (2 questions) Suggested time: 1.5 minutes/question
- Multiple Choice Multiple Answers (2 questions) Suggested time: 2 minutes/question
- Re-order Paragraph (2 questions) Suggested time: 3-4 minutes/question
- Fill in the Blanks-Drag and drop ( 4-5 questions) Suggested time: 1.5 minutes/question
- Fill in the Blanks- Drop down list (4-5 questions) Suggested time: 2 minutes/question
Approach:
Multiple Choice Single Answer:
- Read the question at least 2 times and understand the objective
- Go through the given paragraph/passage, and locate the required information
- Read through the options; select the right one and eliminate the wrong ones based on your comprehension
- No assumptions. Select the option based on your understanding of the passage.
- Be careful about the deceptive words/phrases
Multiple Choice Multiple Answers
- Read the question at least 2 times and understand the objective
- Read through the options thoroughly
- Read the paragraph and eliminate the wrong ones
- BE CAREFUL as this question type has negative marking
- No assumptions. Select the options based on your understanding of the passage.
- Be careful about the deceptive words/phrases
Re-order Paragraph:
- The re-order paragraph could be few types:
- Referral devices based
- Information flow based
- Mixed types
- Understand the main idea and read through all paragraphs before deciding the correct order
- Apply the 5 finger strategy
- Also, check if any special scenario applies
- not only but also type
- problem solution type
- flashback scenario type
- The marking is based on correct pairs (1 point for each correct pair)
