      It is an irrefutable fact that in the recent years, the trend of having more than one spouse has been increasing, and thus polygamy is becoming a startling issue. Considering this, this essay will examine the considerable factors which are playing their predominating role to increase the trend of more than one marriage before succinctly deducing appropriate measures to cope with this issue.

      There are some factors involved in the upsurge of polygamy these days. First and foremost, cultural beliefs could be a significant factor to be considered. It is quite evident that in some cultures and regions of the society, polygamy is culturally and religiously acceptable practice, and therefore there have been hardly any antagonism to such a practice. A recent survey conducted in the under-developed countries revealed that more than 80% of the population accepts polygamy as an appropriate practice due to their beliefs. Moreover, the probability of having children increases, especially when the first partner is barren could be another significant reason.

      Despite the causes discussed above regarding the reasons for increased polygamy, there are quite a few readily available solutions which could be implemented to mitigate/alleviate the impact triggered by the potential factors. Initially, awareness about polygamy could be an effective tool. It is generally seen that when the people are enlightened about the adverse effects of a practice, it works as a deterrent against such a belief. Additionally, awareness regarding the scientific and medical advancements, which assists in befitting medical treatment for infertile individuals, could be another indispensable key that can be adopted.

      In the end, undoubtedly, the cases of polygamy are on the upsurge due to numerous factors; however, above mentioned/aforementioned some concrete steps can assist to mitigate/alleviate the damaging impacts.
